Challenges:

  1. Dealing with time's enigmatic behavior.

  2. Analyze the phenomenological order of Giorgio de Chirco's painting.

  3. Enlive the surrealist concept in the present language.

  4. Phenomenological approach for understanding the role of art in architecture.

Part One: Once Rene Magritte mentioned in his talks that “Everything we see hides another thing, we always want to see what is hidden by what we see.” We are always trying to find something strange behind the walls.
Time is the most precious element of life that is always hiding behind the wall. It is always invisible and we never talk about it in our dimension. Time has a strange interpretation that it is affected in our life but likes to hide behind the things we are doing.
In this painting, the poet is looking for the reality of time. The clock shows 2 o'clock however the reality and colors show something else. Another thing that the poet might think about is wasting time in his life. Are the round clocks telling him the truth? The clock shows a circular path that is going around and around. In 24 hours we might have two similar times in the morning and evening, so even a dead clock shows the truth the day! But. So if he knows the value of his times, they will become a building of success but if not they will go to the cemetery of his life. God tries to show us the reality about time. In the following, there will be a two example that describes the importance and the value of time in two different ways which God brought to us to remember that how time would be different and precious for us:

Holly Bible
Romans 13:11
The Day is Near
11 And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.

Holly Quran
Surah: Hajj, Ayah:47 [22:47]
And they urge you to hasten the punishment. But Allah will never fail in His promise. And indeed, a day with your Lord is like a thousand years of those which you count.

Part Two: McTavish street is located in downtown Montreal right beside McGill University, connecting the Sherbrooke street in the southern part, to the Mount Royal in the north side of it. This street hosts many students for coming to McGill University and people who are trying to reach Mount Royal from the south part of it. Also, this street is one of the hubs which connects Mount Royal to the downtown as a walkable space. In May 2010 the lower part of the street became a car-free zone, so now it is the best opportunity to define public space in this zone and try to invite people to use this unique space. The city and the University call for greening the street with additional shrubs and trees. This street is full of building with concrete façade, so, a space with wooden material would be impressive for the people and the city. the available site has two benches and two trees nearby, the decision is replacing them inside the mentioned space and add two other benches under the trees for the using the shadows in the summer, so we will double the trees and sitting area. In addition, students should take a long walk for finding a café or buffet for buying coffee or snacks when they are in the McLennan library which is a place where many students spend their time inside it. Moreover, people who do running and walking inside this path, ended in this zone, normally tired of the exercise, so the resting area would be a delightful finish line for them.

Part Three: A wooden road in McTavish street, right beside McGill university a place where there are history and a university. Every day many people visit this space. One of the main elements of McGill University when staying in McTavish street is the view of the Mont-Royal which gave a unique identity to this place. Wood is a local material in Montreal, but we cannot see many wooden public spaces in the city as thermowood furniture. In this project, the main concern was how we could define a wooden space in the area full of concrete and glass.
