Challenges:

  1. Keeping the structure

  2. Making a connection between structure and function

  3. Increase the space efficiency

  4. Reasonable development price

  5. Improving the respect of customers and employees

  6. Using the glass as the main material to show both transparency and company’s production

  7. Use various glass in each part of the building

In this design, we concentrated primarily on vernacular materials. The client is a producer of high-quality glasses, therefore we opted to utilize their glass on a majority of the project which also resulted in a reduction of the project's estimated price.

This competition was about saving the structure but changing the design. The building was old and the clients need to change some of its formats. There were some issues with the last format so they decided to change some of it and make a stronger building in both design and material. I was the leader in this design, we combine four different ideas and create a unique form. First, we thought of a crystal tower but we faced to limitations of Tehran’s rules for construction so we used a maximum of glass in our design. It could be made by clients because it respected to all the law of architecture and urbanization in Tehran.

The design was a crystal void which employees and costumer could see each other in different stores. This void would help to reach the maximum natural light on each floor.
